WORLDS OF DEIRI DI · COVER SKETCHBOOK
Why Not Furry?

One of the thing I've done with my more feline (and other more animalistic) aliens, is make sure that when I draw them, they are very humanoid. For the Norratar, I take care to draw them looking like humans with ears and interesting skin patterns rather than giving them a muzzle and visible fur and things like that.
There are two reasons.
First, I publish a lot of my stories on kindle unlimited first, and Amazon is known to suddenly remove authors who have covers that lean too far in the non-human direction. It's why you'll see scifi romance covers with aliens who should look absolutely wild, just looking like male models with skin paint on.
They have been known to penalize romance authors for being too out there.
The second reason is that I've had readers message me and ask how much fur is in the story because they don't like it. I like to leave wiggle room in my stories so that the reader can imagine the kind of feline alien that they prefer, whether that is full fur or an Inu Yasha lookalike.
So, when you enjoy such stories, please picture whatever you want. I just wrote it. Once you read it, that story should look however you want it to look like.
