Meat Consumption

In my Beasts of Mars series, there is a very strong element of excessive meat consumption. Its fun, weird, disturbing to vegans, but that series of stories came out of a single point in my life.

I had anemia.

Very bad anemia.

While writing that series, I was dealing with an intense craving to eat steak, but I had an undiagnosed digestive disorder, so no matter how much steak I ate, I couldn't get enough iron.

That's pretty much it.
